Pakistan is blessed with immense beauty that not only includes mighty mountains, huge glaciers, breathtaking valleys, sparkling waterfalls but also amazing historic architecture. Ramkot Fort is among some stunning historic architecture in Pakistan. It is an ancient and distinct fort due to its peculiar architecture and is surrounded by the water of the Mangla Lake. The Mangla Lake in the background of the fort provides a breathtaking view from the top.
In order to reach the fort, people have to take a boat from the water sports club at the Mangla Dam, it almost takes 10 minutes to approach the fort. The fort was built in 1186 by the Muslim rulers of Kashmir over the site of an old Hindu temple. The Sikh Maharaja of Kashmir further fortified Ramkot and today the fort looks more attractive like a Scottish castle.
In the 1990s, a dentist from Rawalpindi voluntarily spent hundreds of thousands of rupees trying to revive Ramkot Fort, but his efforts were in vain due to a lack of cooperation and interest from local authorities. The government of Pakistan built a museum here in 1992. It contains paintings, artistic models, and several specimens of rocks
