Pakistan and China share a common bond of mutual trust, respect, and goodwill towards each other. The world’s highest mountain range known as Karakoram Mountain Range separates the two neighboring countries but these two countries are connected through Khunjerab Pass. The word Khunjerab is derived from the Wakhi language, “Khun” means Blood, and “jerab” means a creek coming from a spring of water.
It has the highest paved border crossings in the world located at an elevation of 4.733m above sea level and the highest point on the Karakoram Highway. The roadway across the pass was completed in 1982 and is one the tallest metaled border crossing in the world.
The pass is open from Monday to Friday. The travel is quite difficult and dangerous due to high elevation with its risk of altitude sickness, steep road grade, and weather concern. Since the place is at such a high altitude that the pass is mostly closed from November to April due to heavy snowfall. In Pakistan, the nearest town from Khunjerab Pass is Sust that also acts as the immigration and customs post. If you want to visit China, a bus service runs Between Pakistan and China through Khunjerab Pass. Otherwise, you can simply go to the Pass and enjoy the breathtaking beauty and views. Khunjerab Pass is an amazing place worth visiting at least once in life.
The Khunjerab Pass is worth visiting due to its breathtaking scenic beauty, stunning mountain views, and greenery.
